The North Island journey
|
|
At last we've reached the end of this awesome journey...but still, it didn't end without drama..
Our flight was supposed to be at 8.05am...so at 4.30am we already woke up coz we need to check in like 2hrs bfore the flight...it was a very2 foggy morning...can barely see the road...
So then we checked in for the flight that we never get to board...it was too foggy, practically no flight can come in or leave Auckland...until 11am we were still waiting for our plane...then came news that it's never going to come for us..it's been rerouted to Wellington or something...so that flight was cancled...
We had to reclaim our baggage and pass through imigration and customs all over again...by then it was already 1pm...penat gile 
Then we'd have to wait in line to rebook our flight...luckily there was an Air Zealand flight to Sydney (our original flight was direct to Adelaide) leaving at 3.30pm...reached Sydney around 5.30pm...then flew to Adelaide at 8.30 on Qantas...sampai Adelaide dah pukol 10.30...

Rotorua [WARNING: NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED]

Saturday afternoon, we made our way to Rotorua where we'll meet up with Kak Effa and Ross. You know you've reached Rotorua when you smell the wonderful smell of "kentut"..seriously..Rotorua reeks of sulphur...rotten eggs stink... 
Ross has been working in US for the last 4 months and only returned that morning. It was almost sunset when we arrived there, so there was nothing much we could do. Kak Effa gave us suggestion to where we could go for the next day. Then we parted-she headed for her friend's place and we went to find a hostel to stay for the night.
Next morning we went to the this place where they have all this thermal stuff...Wai-O-tapu...bubbling mud pools, geiser, etc...the whole area macam berasap...that's like all the heat from the ground...so just imagine how much it stinks there.. 
Then at noon we went to Te Puia, this Maori cultural experience thingy to catch the Maori performance...it was very beautiful!! i love it!!
Then...[this is the highlight of the trip]...we went to Agrodome...the place where they have all these extreme sports stuff...
The BUNGY experience
CRAZY!!!!!!!! They got us into our harnest and stuff on the ground, then die bawak naik crane..mase dlm crane tu die habeskan ikat2 sume tali...tgk2 dah naek tinggi dah...tang ni laaa tetibe rase macam2...rase mcm x jadi nak buat pon ade gak...  ...pastu die suruh bgn and diri dekat ledge/platform from where i'll be taking the plunge...lepas tu die nak tutup gate tu biar kite kat luar!! I totally freaked out then..like there's no turning back!! i was like "Are u locking me out??!!  " hahahha...then everything went like a blur...the guy asked me to wave to the photographer below then he just launched me off the platform!!! I think he might have given me a shove coz I wouldn't have done it myself!!! Before my feet left the platform pon dah menjerit dah....n sepanjang2 tu lah i screamed and screamed my heart out!!!!then after about three bounce it all passed...i stopped screaming (at last)..and just enjoyed the bouncing about... I did it!! I jumped 43 metres!!! All that for $81...
SWOOP!!!
Even mad than bungy!!! tgk lah gamba..dah lak as they lift us up the crane..bleh nampak exactly how high we were going...then I had to pull a cord to launched us down...it was free fall then a big big swing..once again...screamed like mad..  ..this one for $36..not bad at all

Tairua
|

The second day in North Island we went to Tairua, a small coastal "pekan". Ross's family has a holiday house there which they rent out, but they let us stay there for free!!!..very nice 3 bedroom house..
The house is located at the bay...belakang rumah dah nampak air dah...hari yg kitorg sampai tu dah petang, mendung and hujan..mase low tide, so bay tuh mmg kering aa, almost xde air langsung...kat situ kak Effa kate bleh carik shell fish utk makan...so kitorg pon mengorek laaaa...abes tangan luke2 and kuku rosak..penat cangkung, pegi duduk je dlm air tu dah lak pakai jeans...
So malam tu makan maggi dgn shellfish laaa...dia macam remis..kecik2 camtu...sdap..fresh..sikit rebus, sikit bakar...
Next morning weather cun gile..sunny...so we took a long walk around the bay to the beach...die punye sand best gile, die bukan pasir halus macam biase tu tau..die kasar2 sket..macam scrub...so kitorg pon buat hand and foot spa free laa kat stu...buat lulur hehe ...
dah ptg sket, we went out to eat fish n chips...very traditional, wrapped in newspaper...yumm...then we drove to hot water beach which is about 40 minutes from Tairua...kat beach tu ade satu spot kalo korek2 nnt air panas kluar...tapi mase kitorg g tu x yah korek mmg org dah korek...mmg air die panas...it was bubbling out from the sand...if we burried out feet into the sand, lame2 x tahan sbb panas gile...so terlompat2 laa jugak kat situ

Sampai Auckland...
|
|
Flight to Auckland around 1.35pm...spi around 3pm...Kak Effa was there to greet us...but she had a meeting at 4 so she had to leave us with directions and keys to her house...we got our rental car and drove to her house in Mt Eden...very cute 2 bedroom house, and they have plans to renovate it and it'll be double the size when they finish...she showed me the plans...
Around 6 she came home and we went out to the seafood shop to buy food to cook...We had fresh mussels..yummmm  ...the best i've ever had...smoked mussels...smoked fish...steamed fish...and vege stir fry...

West Coast-Christchurch
|
|
Nearing the end of our time in South Island...we've covered almost all of it..amazing huh...jakun laa jugak..sume pon nampak macam straight out of Lord of The Rings..
Sampai Christchurch around 3pm and kitorg just round2 tgk2 and pegi beach mase sunset...
Malam tu makan dgn bestnye..masak dkt tpt Ana..makan nasik...setelah sminggu makan maggi ngan roti hehe...

Greymouth-Punakaiki
|

After Franz Josef, we traveled up north towards Greymouth where we stopped for the night..from there we went to Punakaiki to see the Pancake Rocks...they're these rocks on the beach that are layered, like stacks of pancakes..really cool..

Left Queenstown headed for Wanaka to visit the Puzzling World...spent 2 hrs there then continued towards Fox Glacier on the West Coast...I drove all the way...terrer laa dah rase drive in every driving condition imaginable...icy...bukit putus?kacang!!..hehe...long distance? pass...rain? no worries..
really amazing...bcoz in Queenstown it's more bare mountains with just bushes and ice...then when we get into the West Coast area it's very tropical..macam Malaysia..jalan pon macam on the way balik Pilah...nak dekat sunset sampai dekat Fox Glacier..glacier tu macam river of ice laa..and it moves...
Malam baru sampai Franz Josef...where we spent the night...
